3 things you can't miss at Leeds International Festival 2019

The UK’s leading metropolitan festival of new ideas and innovation returns to Leeds on Thursday 2nd May, boasting a wonderfully diverse programme.

The 2019 line up features an eclectic mix of international speakers, talented performers and events that promise to entertain, surprise and inspire.

With so many exciting events to chose from, here’s our top picks:

1. A Mexican Takeover at the Merrion Centre

This year's festival is set to unite Leeds and Mexico in the heart of the city for a food and art-based celebration of those loved and lost.

Be a part of the Mexican tradition by bringing along a photo of someone you've lost. Alternatively, you can satisfy the inner artist in you and get involved in the crafting activities on offer.

All That Lives, Feasts presented by The Grief Series will be at the Merrion Centre from 6th May – 11th May 2019 (Closed on the 8th).

2. Rediscover Leeds from a playful perspective in an interactive game where YOU get to save the city.

In conjunction with Machina Ex and Transform 19, Rewire Leeds immerses you into a simulation game which allows you to solve puzzles, score points and ultimately decide the city's fate.

Rewire Leeds will be at various locations throughout the city from the 1 – 4 May 2019.

3. Talkin’ ’bout my generation: Explore what it means to be an older person in the UK today

Explore what it means to be an older person in the modern day world in an intimate conversational theatre performance. Ranging from 62 – 89 years old, speakers will address issues around ageism from both a political and personal standpoint in this eyeopening number.

Talkin’ ’bout my generation will be running from 8 – 10 May at Mill Hill Chapel, Leeds.
